France, French Cities, French Artists and Ottoline.

Now that our blog is up and running again we thought you might like to see what we've been up to.

We are looking at the world and are studying France in detail.

This afternoon we shared the work we have done on leaflets about cities in France. The towns and cities included Paris, Orleans, Rimes, Toulouse and Strasburg.

We have also been looking in detail at some works of art painted by French artists:

Mrs Andrew read more of 'Ottloline and the Yellow Cat' by Chris Riddell which we all enjoyed.

More Animal Presentations (23rd May)

Today we learned about pumas, also known by lots of other names including mountain lions. We heard about where they live and lots of statistics about their size, weight and longevity. We learned that they can run at 50 mph!

We also found out all about frogs. Frogs like being in the dark so they can hide. They hibernate. We heard about gills and how frogs can breathe through their skin. We saw a frog with a mask! We heard that frogs eat pests in the garden and that they are corpulent (fat and well rounded). Frogs are very special because they are amphibians so live on the land as well as in the water!

Squirrels's nests are called drays. They have 1-4 babies in a litter, they eat seeds and nuts and red squirrels are very rare.

We also heard about sloths. There are 2 and 3 toed varieties. We all thought baby sloths are cute! Sloths are nocturnal and can live up to 40 years. We had a demonstration of how tall they are! They live in Central and South America and they move very slowly. They are mammals - give birth to live young and are warm blooded.

Partial Eclipse of the Sun

This morning at assembly we looked at the live feed from the BBC of the partial eclipse....

This is caused by the moon passing between the earth and the sun.

Here is the eclipse, showing the diamond ring, which happened at 9.40am.

Class 3 Christmas Magazine

Over the last week we have been working on a Class 3 magazine. We had four groups who each worked on a page about the four classes in school under the direction of an editor.

Here is the finished article...

We have had a fantastic week so far, having done lots of Christmas activities and of course singing lots of seasonal songs at our carol service last night. We're all feeling very Christmassy!
