Our DT project is about make soups that are made from UK ingredients and soups made with Latin American ingredients. 

First preparing some vegetables to make purées for tasting...

Then researching recipes and online information...

Before tasting the different purées we had made, together with some different ready-made soups, herbs and spices- great enjoyment ...

Now we have collected lots of design ideas, we will start planning our recipes.

The Stone Age: our work. October 18th

Here are Mrs Andrews' wonderful displays of Barn Owls' work from this half term:

Stone Age artefacts made by Barn Owls - and Stonehenge models! October 17th

Barn Owls have had optional homework to make Stone Age artefacts. These included weapons and jewellery and many children also provided additional information about the object they made or the Stone Age.

Today some of the objects were presented to the class..

Afterwards Mrs Andrew showed us how to make a model of Stonehenge:

As our topic this term is The Stone Age we decided to see what it would like to start our own fire - and then we had toasted marshmallows! 

Here we are collecting firewood...

Then we added the sticks to tinder in the fire pit...

Followed by larger pieces of wood.

Miss Patterson explained how to light a fire safely:

In The Stone Age flints would have been used to light fires but today we used a firelighter. 

As you can see below, after we lit the fire we sang songs around it and then toasted and ate our marshmallows - what a treat!
