Roman Shields

Class 3 have now completed their Roman shields. Here are all the children trying them out...you might have seen similar expressions in 'Asterix the Gaul'!

Scary stuff!

The children marched down to see Mr King with their shields and then went into the hall to make a tortoise formation (testudo):

Excellent formation troops! An exciting introduction into our new topic!

Great Britain: Class 3 Homework Projects

Today was the deadline for Class 3's homework; the children had been doing research on places in Britain.

We saw the first few projects today. Here are a couple of examples...

This project was about London and included a 3D puzzle with its own timeline, laminated question card and fact card and photographs! The standard of work was extremely high.

This project was about Liverpool:

We're looking forward to seeing more later in the week. Well done everyone!

Islamic Calligraphy

We have been studying Islamic art and the children in Class 3 were inspired to create their own designs which they used to decorate plates.

Which do you prefer?

We discovered that Islamic artists don't draw pictures of things with souls such as people or animals because they believe that God created them. Instead they use calligraphy to represent people and animals with writing.
