Measuring our five a day fruit

Today we concluded our investigations into measuring and presenting data. Our group measured fruit in centimetres and we then presented this information in a bar chart.


The children found a really good way of measuring curved objects. They drew around them on their whiteboards and then measured across the longest part of the shape using a ruler.







This was the graph we drew together:


As you can see, grapes were the smallest fruit we measured (2cm) and bananas were the longest (21cm). However, the mango was the fruit that most children wanted to eat!
