World Book Day

As today was World Book Day we all dressed up as characters from books. In Class 3 Harry Potter was the favourite character but we also had many more including Gangsta Granny, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, an oompah loompah, one of the 101 Dalmatians, Hiccup from 'How to train your dragon' and Funnybones.

Here's Mrs Gilbert's beautiful display showing which books the staff remember from their childhood:

Here's the whole class in their outfits:

This morning in literacy our work centred around 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo. We answered questions and then drew flying fish, basking sharks and Michael in the sea! Our drawings turned out really well.

In maths, we used Roman numerals and also did some origami; following instructions to make a spring tulip.

Here you can see Mrs Andrew explaining how to make the tulip:

Here's everyone having a go...

Some very special cards made for some very special people!

After lunch we had Design Technology and practised making pop up cards with box folds...

We concluded our day by listening to some stories including 'The Hobbit' by JRR Tolkein, 'Silverfin' by Charlie Higson, 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson, 'Gobbolino the Witches Cat' by Ursula Mory Williams, 'Buster' by Linda Jennings, 'The Little White Hen' by Philippa Pearce And Gillian McClure and 'Winnie the Witch' by Korky Paul and Valerie Thomas.

We hope you had as enjoyable a day, and went on to enjoy more fantastic books at home after school!
